Top Employers Institute has officially announced their 2022 Top Employers. Olympus, a leading global medtech company with its headquarters for the Region Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) in Hamburg/ Germany, received the award for the 15th consecutive year. The award acknowledges Olympus as a European Top Employer and also covers the company’s largest entities in Germany, the UK, France, Spain, Italy and Portugal.

Marion Bönsch, new Director Human Resources at Olympus, comments: “Having joined Olympus and taken over as HR Director for the EMEA Region only recently, the new Top Employers certificate is a special honor for me. We are proud to be recognized as a Top Employer in Europe once again. The 15th award we received underlines Olympus’ steady progress in all certified areas. It’s also a strong signal that Olympus fulfills highest standards in terms of people practices and workplace policies – a valuable appreciation especially in these times of an ongoing global pandemic, in which new work practices, global, hybrid and digital collaboration keep changing our work environment so fundamentally. Thank you to all our colleagues at Olympus who help to drive this change every day.” Since January 2022, Marion Bönsch is Director HR for the EMEA-Region and also one of the managing directors at Olympus Europa SE & Co. KG.

Every year, the Top Employers Institute certifies organizations that provide an attractive workplace environment which encourages professional as well as personal development. The Institute’s programme independently evaluates and benchmarks organizations based on their participation in a specific HR Best Practices survey. This survey covers six HR domains consisting of 20 key areas such as People Strategy, Work Environment, Talent Acquisition, Learning, Well-being and Diversity & Inclusion, and more.

Overall, in 2022, the Olympus entities were able to improve their outcomes by 2,5 percentage points compared to 2021 (85 points in total). Especially in key areas such as leadership, business strategy and performance management, Olympus attained above-average ratings compared to other Top Employers. One of the main drivers has been the introduction of a new Performance Management System ensuring continuous feedback on strengths and development areas. In addition to the certification by the external Top Employer Institute, a biannual Global Employee Survey, in which all Olympus employees can participate anonymously, is an important development tool for developing job satisfaction and employee commitment.

Top Employers Institute CEO David Plink states: “Reflecting on the demanding year that has, like the year before it, impacted organisations across the world, Olympus has continued to show that it prioritises maintaining excellent people practices in their workplace. In the past year they continued to meet the challenges of the wider world of work while working determinedly to positively impact the lives of their workforce. We are pleased to award all organisations that have been certified as Top Employers across Europe this year.”

The Top Employer Programme 2022 has certified and recognized 1,857 Top Employers in 123 countries across five continents.
