By informing you about the use of cookies we also refer to this privacy terms and cookie policy.
1.1 Technically Required Cookies
These cookies are required for the navigation of the websites and to use their functions, such as accessing the secured areas of the website. Without these cookies certain services such as registration of products or registration for trainings are not possible.

1.2 Performance and Functionality Cookies
We also use cookies on our website for analyzing purposes of your surfing behavior. This data is not stored together with your other personal data.
These cookies collect information about how visitors use a website, for instance which pages visitors go to most often, and if they get error messages from web pages.
For these purposes, there is a legitimate interest as a legal ground according to Article 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR for processing your data because we can improve the quality of our website and its content through the use of these cookies. In addition it permits us to learn how the website is used and thus enables us to continuously optimize our offers to you.
For the storage period of cookies for the analysis of the surfing behavior please see the table below. You can click on the button below to opt-out of the use of these cookies.
1.2.1 Google Analytics
On our websites we use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses cookies. The information generated by the cookies about your use of the website (including your IP address) will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States.
Google uses this information on our behalf to evaluate the use of our online offer, to compile reports on the activities within this online offer and to provide us with further services connected with the use of this online offer. Pseudonymous user profiles can be created from the processed data.
We use Google Analytics only with the enabled IP anonymization configuration (“gat._anonymizeIp();”) to ensure an anonymized collection of IP addresses (so called IP-masking). This means that your IP address will be anonymized by Google within member states of the European Union or in other signatory states to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. The IP address transmitted by your browser is not merged with other Google data.
You can prevent Google from collecting and using your data (cookies and IP address) by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available here: http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Further information regarding the data use for advertising purposes by Google, possible settings and objections can be found on the Google websites:

1.2.2 Adobe Analytics
On our websites we use the web analytics service Adobe Analytics provided by Adobe Systems Software Ireland Limited, 4-6 Riverwalk, City West, Business Campus, Dublin 24, Ireland (“Adobe”). This Service uses cookies to help Olympus analyze how visitors use the site. The information generated by the cookies about your use of the Website includes your IP address.
If the information on the website’s use generated by the cookie is transferred to an Adobe server, the settings ensure that the IP address is anonymized before geo-localization and is replaced with a generic IP address before storage. On behalf of Olympus, Adobe uses this information to analyze the use of the website, create reports on the website activities and provide other services associated with the website and internet use for the website operator. The IP address which is processed by Adobe is not combined with other Adobe data. You can prevent the installation of cookies using an appropriate setting in your browser software. 1.3 Cookies used for Advertising or Social Media
These Cookies are set by third-parties and are used to collect information about the user's visited websites (web tracking) so that individualized advertising can be displayed.
For these purposes, there is a legitimate interest as a legal ground according to Article 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR for processing your data because we can customize our advertisement to your wishes. However, we also ask you to consent to the use of these third party cookies by clicking the button on the cookie acceptance layer you see upon visiting our website for the first time. Therefore, the legal ground is also based on Article 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR.
For the storage period of cookies for the analysis of the surfing behavior the above mentioned applies (see under 3.8) as long as there are no special retention or storage periods which can differ from cookie to cookie and are listed in the table below. We furthermore want to inform you about the use of the following services from third party provider for marketing and advertising purposes.
1.3.1 Google AdWords
On our websites we use Google AdWords. Google AdWords is an online advertising program by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (“Google”). We use, on the one hand, the remarketing function within the Google Adwords service. With the remarketing function, we can present adverts based on their interests to website users on other websites in the Google display network (Google itself, so-called “Google ads”, or on other websites). For this, the user’s interaction on our website is analyzed, e.g. the offers the user is interested in, to be able to show target adverts on other pages after visiting our website. To do so, Google saves a number in the user's browser when they visit certain Google services or websites in the Google display network. This user's visits are recorded via this number, which is referred to as a “cookie”. This number is used to uniquely identify a web browser on a particular computer and not to identify a person; personal data is not stored. You can deactivate the use of the cookie by Google by following this link, then downloading and installing the plug-in provided there: https://www.google.com/settings/ads/plugin. For more information on Google remarketing and the Google data privacy declaration, see: http://www.google.com/privacy/ads/
We also use so-called conversion tracking as part of the Google AdWords service. When you click on an advert placed by Google, a cookie is stored for conversion tracking on your computer/device. These cookies become invalid after 30 days, do not contain personal information and are not used for personal identification. The information obtained using the conversion cookie is used to produce conversion statistics for AdWords customers who have chosen conversion tracking.
You can prevent the installation of cookies by adjusting the relevant setting in your browser software; but in this case, we expressly point out that you may not be able to use the full functions of this website. You can also deactivate interest-related adverts on Google and interest-related Google adverts in the web (within the Google display network) in your browser by activating the “Off” button under http://www.google.com/settings/ads or deactivating it under http://www.aboutads.info/choices/. You can find additional information on related options and data privacy at Google under https://policies.google.com/privacy.
1.3.2 Bing Advertising
Our websites also use conversion tracking from Microsoft (Microsoft Corporation, One Microsoft Way, Redmond, WA 98052-6399, USA). If you came to our website via a Microsoft Bing ad, a Microsoft Bing Ads cookie will be placed on your computer. This enables Microsoft and us to recognize that someone clicked on an ad, was redirected to our website and reached a previously defined target page (conversion page). No personal information about the user (e.g. his identity) is disclosed, only the total number of users who clicked on a Bing ad and were then forwarded to a conversion page. You can prevent the setting of a cookie, e.g. via your browser setting, if you do not wish to participate in the tracking procedure. Further information on data protection and the cookies used at Microsoft Bing can be found at https://privacy.microsoft.com.
Under the following link you can opt-out from this service: https://account.microsoft.com/privacy/ad-settings.
1.3.3 Social Network Advertising (Remarketing/Retargeting Cookies and Pixels)
On our websites we use the function of Facebook Retargeting pixel (Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA ("Facebook"). The remarketing or retargeting tags establish a direct connection between your browser and the Facebook server when you visit our website. A remarketing tag will be implemented on our website to perform this function. This will send the information about your visiting on our website directly to the Facebook server.
If you are logged in at your Facebook account at the same time, Facebook assigns this information to your user account. If you are not logged in, this information is immediately discarded by the respective provider.
If you would like to learn more about Facebook's collection and use of the data or about your rights and options for protecting your privacy in this context, please refer to the privacy policy of Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/).
If you do not want Facebook to associate the collected information directly with your Facebook account, you can disable the remarketing function "Custom Audiences" at https://www.facebook.com/ads/website_custom_audiences/. You must be logged in to Facebook.
1.3.4 eMail Marketing (episerver/ Optivo Broadmail)
We use Episerver former Optivo broadmail (Episerver Deutschland, Wallstraße 16, 10179 Berlin, Deutschland) for our e-mail marketing. Detailed information is given in the Privacy notice under 3.4 . It is possible to unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time here.
1.3.5 Affiliate Marketing (Kwanko & Tradedoubler)
On our websites we use the partner function of Tradedoubler’s affiliate marketing (Tradedoubler, Birger Jarlsgatan 57A; 113 56 Stockholm, Sweden) and Kwanko’s NetAffiliation platform (KWANKO FRANCE (HQ) 60, bd du Maréchal Joffre, 92340 Bourg-la-Reine,France). We have on the order confirmation page of the online shop a conversion pixel (PostClic) from the affiliate network. This pixel allows the affiliate network to measure when an order has been placed in the online store after contacting an advertisement placement within the affiliate network. The affiliate partner will read out various cookies that will be awarded on contact with advertising within the affiliate network. The cookies that are read may contain the following information: a timestamp on when the advertisement was clicked, an anonymized session ID, information about which marketer has placed the advertising on the network and what type of advertising has been served and the program ID of the affiliate program. The described information can be recognized and read out by the affiliate pixel on the order confirmation page of the online shop. Furthermore, remarketing/ -targeting pixel(s) (PostView) are placed to present adverts based on their interest to website users. The basic principle that the partner uses is the anonymity of the data to process data in relation to the user. Therefore, the partner does not store IP addresses on a user's cookie but only a unique, random ID that does not allow the partner to identify the user. There is no cooperation with internet service providers to determine the actual identity of users and no such co-operation is started. The data stored on the cookie is limited to information collected by the partner during the user's visits to the ad network's web pages. Except for cookies that are stored for purely statistical purposes, the cookie of a user can only be displayed by the partner when the user visits a website that belongs to the partner network.
Also, be aware that you can prevent cookies from being created on your computer at any time by changing your browser settings.
By clicking on the following link, TradeDoubler will not track anything from your browser using cookies. http://publisher.tradedoubler.com/include/functions/optout.html?
By clicking on the following link, Kwanko will not track anything from your browser using cookies https://netaffiliation.com/opto
1.3.6 Metalyzer
Our websites use metalyzer, a cookie product provided by the company metapeople GmbH (https://www.metapeople.com). This product collects and processes user data for marketing and optimization purposes. The data is then used to create pseudonymized user profiles. For every user who visits our websites, metapeople GmbH’s web server saves the following information: Name of the internet service provider, the website from which the user visits our website, the websites the user visits, and the date and duration of the visit. The data collected does not contain your name, address or e-mail address and as such does not allow you to be identified.
You can prevent the installation of metalyzer by adjusting the relevant cookie settings in your browser software. However, we would like to remind you that taking this step may mean that some website functions do not work fully.
As an alternative to adjusting your browser settings, in particular when browsing on mobile devices, you can also prevent metalyzer from collecting data by clicking on this link: https://metapeople.com/opting-out-of-cookies/. This will enable an opt-out cookie, which will prevent your personal data from being collected when you visit our website in future. The opt-out cookie only applies in the browser in which you enable the cookie, and will be stored on your device. If you delete the cookies in this browser, you will be required to re-download the opt-out cookie.
1.3.7 LinkedIn
Our website uses functions from the LinkedIn network. The supplier is LinkedIn Corporation, 2029 Stierlin Court, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. When accessing one of our websites with a LinkedIn link, a connection is established to LinkedIn and a notification that you have visited our website will be transmitted to LinkedIn together with your IP address. If you click on the “Recommend” LinkedIn button and are also logged in to your LinkedIn account, it is possible for LinkedIn to link your visit to our website to you and your user account. Please note that as the website provider, we are unable to access the content of the data transmitted or to see how it is used by LinkedIn. Privacy policy: https://www.linkedin.com/legal/privacy-policy, opt-out: https://www.linkedin.com/psettings/guest-controls/retargeting-opt-out.
1.3.8 Push notifications
You can register to receive so-called push notifications. We use the “CleverPush” service for this, operated by CleverPush GmbH, Nagelsweg 22, 20097 Hamburg, Germany (“CleverPush”). Through our push notifications, you will receive regular information about current offers and price reductions, new products and services, and general tips and tricks for use of Olympus consumer products and services or information on services provided by Olympus (e.g. sale in the Olympus online shop).
To register for push notifications, you need to approve the request made by your browser or device to receive notifications. This process is documented and stored by CleverPush. The time of registration and a browser or device ID is saved for this. This data is used, on the one hand, to be able to send you push notifications and, on the other hand, as evidence of your registration. The legal basis for this processing is your consent and Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. CleverPush also carries out statistical analysis of our push notifications. CleverPush uses this to recognize whether and when our push notifications have been displayed and clicked on. This allows us to determine which push notifications are of interest to the recipient, in order to adjust future notifications to the presumed interests of all recipients and thereby increase interest in our services. In addition to the browser or device ID, we store information about the main topic of the page on which the push notification was activated (e.g. product page, start page, etc.). We also use this information to send push notifications to the relevant subscriber that relate to their presumed interests. The legal basis for the processing is Art 6(1)(f) GDPR in each case. The matching of a browser or device ID to a specific person only takes place if we have a legal obligation to do so, where this would provide evidence that we require for our defense in legal proceedings, or for the potential prosecution of violations of the law.
Your consent to the storage and use of your personal data for purposes of receiving push notifications can be revoked at any time with effect for the future. In addition, you can object at any time to the use of your personal data in the way described above based on Art. 6(1)(f) by withdrawing your consent to processing for these purposes. You can withdraw your consent by adjusting the settings in your browser relating to the receipt of push notifications. Where our push notifications are used on a desktop PC with the “Windows” operating system, you can also unsubscribe from them by right-clicking on the particular push notification and adjusting the settings that appear. Your data is deleted as soon as it is no longer required for the purpose it was collected for. Your data is therefore stored only as long as the subscription to our push notifications is active.
You can see the unsubscribe process explained in more detail by clicking on this link: https://cleverpush.com/faq

1.4.3 LinkedIn
This website uses the “LinkedIn Insight Tag,” a conversion tool created by LinkedIn Ireland Unlimited Company, Wilton Place, Dublin 2, Ireland. LinkedIn then provides us with anonymized reports containing data relating to advertising activity and information on your interaction with our website. You can find further information about LinkedIn’s data protection in their privacy policy here.
You may, at any time, prevent LinkedIn from collecting data generated by the cookie and related to your use of the website and prohibit the processing of said data by LinkedIn by setting an opt-out cookie, which will prevent all future collection of your data when visiting this website. The opt-out cookie only applies in this browser and for our website, and will be stored on your device. If you delete the cookies in this browser, you will be required to re-download the opt-out cookie.
The data processing carried out with regard to the function of the “LinkedIn Insight Tag” is in accordance with Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR, in that we have a legitimate interest in providing you with personalized adverts and analyzing the use of our website.
1.5 Other third party services
1.5.1 Google maps, reCaptcha, YouTube
This website uses the map service Google Maps. The provider is Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. To use the functions of Google Maps it is necessary to save your IP address. This information is usually transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there. The provider of this site has no influence on this data transmission. The use of Google Maps is in the interest of an appealing representation of our online offers and events and to make it easy for you to find the places indicated by us on the website. This represents a legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f) GDPR. You can find more information on the handling of user data in Google's data protection declaration: https://policies.google.com/privacy.
To protect your orders via internet forms, we use the service reCAPTCHA of the company Google Inc. (Google). The query is used to distinguish whether the input is made by a human or an abusive automated, mechanical processing. The query includes the sending of the IP address and any other data required by Google for the reCAPTCHA service to Google. For this purpose, your input will be transmitted to Google and used there. By using reCaptcha, you agree that the recognition you provide will be used to digitize old works. However, if IP anonymization is activated on this website, your IP address will be shortened by Google beforehand within Member States of the European Union and countries that are parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be sent to a Google server in the US and shortened there. Google will use this information on behalf of the operator of this website to evaluate your use of this service. The IP address sent by your browser as part of reCaptcha will not be merged with other data provided by Google. This data is subject to the deviating privacy policies of Google. For more information about Google's privacy policy, please visit: https://policies.google.com/privacy.
The legal ground for processing your data by using this service is based on Art. 6 para. 1 f GDPR as the website operator has a legitimate interest in protecting his website offers against abusive automated spying and spam.
We have integrated YouTube videos into our online offering, which are stored on http://www.YouTube.com and can be played directly from our website. These are all integrated in the "extended data protection mode", i.e. no data about you as a user will be transmitted to YouTube if you do not play the videos. Only when you play the videos will the data referred to in paragraph 2 be transmitted. We have no influence on this data transmission.
