Apprenticeships

Expect a profession with a future

Apprenticeships at Olympus

Attention pupils! Olympus will be welcoming a new intake of apprentices in the following professions on August 1:

  • Office management
  • Assistant in wholesale and foreign trade
  • Electronics technician for devices and systems

As an apprentice, you will work in a wide range of different departments, taking on responsible tasks from the very start and getting to know the specific workflows that apply in Olympus' business areas.

You will develop a valuable network of contacts across Europe as a month of your apprenticeship will be spent at one of our European subsidiaries.

In addition, you will also learn all the specialist theoretical knowledge needed for your chosen profession during weekly or block lessons at vocational school.

1) Prepare your documentation Research the job that you are applying for and write your application, including:
  • a convincing covering letter
  • a gap-free resumé
  • your two most recent school reports
  • internship certificates
2) Submit your application online Apply online for one of our apprenticeship opportunities and upload your application documents. We advertise our positions before the start of the Hamburg summer vacation. You should therefore apply to us as early as possible.
3) Complete our online test In the third step, you will receive a link to our online test, which varies according to the apprenticeship. It should take around an hour to complete. We recommend that you take your time and choose a quiet place to complete the test where you won't be disturbed.
4) Meet us in person After careful examination of your application documents and test results, candidates will be pre-selected. If your profile fits our requirements, you will be invited to one of our selection days, which are usually held between September and November.

There will be a range of exercises designed to give us an impression of you as a person. This will also allow you to get an idea of our apprenticeship concept. The selection day therefore allows us to get to know each other and helps you decide if we are right for you.
5) Await our final decision Following the selection day, you will receive a prompt follow-up and extensive feedback from us.

Dual study

Expect the perfect combination of theory and practice

Have you graduated from high school and are still unsure whether you should choose an apprenticeship or a course of study? We believe that theory and practice should go hand-in-hand. That's why we have five dual-study programs at Olympus, which combine practical experience at work with theoretical knowledge at an educational institution.

We have worked together with the Nordakademie in Elmshorn for several years, an institution with an excellent reputation that offers practical courses of study. The following degree courses are offered in partnership with the Nordakademie:

  • Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Business Administration
  • Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Industrial Engineering and Business Management
  • Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Computer Science and Business Management Information Technology
  • Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Applied Computer Science
  • Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in International Business

We also work in partnership with the Hamburg School of Business Administration (HSBA). The university is located in central Hamburg and has a modern, international focus. The following degree course is offered in partnership with HSBA:

  • Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Business Administration majoring in Sales and Distribution

Our dual-study programs provide excellent teaching and learning conditions, direct practical relevance, and project-orientated professional training in an internationally successful company. It goes without saying that we take care of your study fees and support you with additional benefits, such as book allowances and a free public transport ticket. A further key benefit: unlike conventional degree courses, you'll receive a salary from the very start.

Our dual-study programs start on August 1 each year. The study period is six semesters at HSBA and seven at the Nordakademie, each with alternating theoretical and practical phases. You will apply your newly acquired theoretical knowledge immediately during your day-to-day work at Olympus, helping you better understand what you are studying and giving your learning a real practical context. You will also work in several different departments and will become familiar with national as well as international product divisions.

During this time, you will make valuable contacts with our highly experienced experts. Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to study abroad for a semester or to work in one of our European subsidiaries.

1) Prepare your documentation Research the job that you are applying for and write your application, including:
  • a convincing covering letter

To obtain an application certificate from the Nordakademie, you need to have successfully completed a specific online test. The HSBA, meanwhile, will assess your high-school grades in mathematics, German and English instead.
2) Submit your application online Apply online for one of our apprenticeship opportunities and upload your application documents. We advertise our positions before the start of the Hamburg school summer vacation period. You should therefore apply to us as early as possible. Internships for pupils

Expect to find out more about exciting career opportunities

Twice a year, our “Early Birds” internship program for pupils offers the opportunity to experience day-to-day work at Olympus in one of our business areas. During your time with us, you will also be able to find out about our current vacancies at an early stage.

An internship for pupils at Olympus provides a wealth of benefits:

  • initial practical business experience
  • our welcome day & opportunities to get to know each other
  • dedicated contacts
  • insights into apprenticeships & dual-study programs
  • mentoring by apprentices
  • a joint training day
  • a joint lunch for pupils in the canteen
  • application check
  • final feedback
  • reimbursement of travel expenses

During your internship, we will help you to recognize your strengths and get to know yourself better. It might also help you to decide which apprenticeship or dual-study program is right for you. Either way, it's worth learning this information at an early stage. After all, the early bird catches the worm.

Please apply for your chosen vacancy around six months before the start of the internship. Write a covering letter explaining why you are interested in an internship at Olympus. You then need to send your letter along with your resumé, your most recent school report and any relevant documents that you may have, such as references from other internships. If your application suits our requirements, we will invite you to take part in a short telephone interview. A decision will then be made as to whether you may participate in our pupil internship program. We look forward to receiving your application!
